What has photography ever done for me?
Fine Art Photography
As I've already mentioned, I began this exploration into my fine art photography with the factors I believe are valuable to me, assuming I could tick them off quickly. But my attitude changed when I started writing – more and more words came tumbling out, I couldn’t seem to stop. And looking to illustrate the writing, I browsed through the images which I've created in the last two years – my fine art years – and this intensified the process further.
I discovered there is far more depth to the ways in which my fine art photography affects me and is good for me – certainly not the superficial, surface layer, quick-tick gains I’d imagined! And that I benefit from other issues too, such as self expression and ‘the state of flow,’ for example.
Not every thought has been neatly resolved; the issue of individuality seems important to me but I can’t pinpoint why; and there’s an elusive factor (unimaginatively called ‘something else’) which isn’t quite determined fully. And that is why I've included this as an appendix – to refer to in the future when greater certainty develops.
There are a lot of words if you read them all – but you may enjoy just dipping in.
